Mitcham Road

The site is located within the London Borough of Wandsworth, at the corner of Mitcham Road and Byton Road. The site is 982 sq m in area and was occupied by a mixed-use part-one / part-two storey brick building.

The former HSS store provided 530 sq m (GEA) of retail floorspace and traded over the ground floor, with the charity Jegatheswaram occupying the first floor through a sublease from HSS since 2014. The building has since been vacant, with Jegatheswaram vacating the first floor in early 2022.

The proposal includes the demolition of the existing buildings on 190-194 Mitcham Road and the erection of a new building to provide residential accommodation (Use Class C3) and ground floor commercial, business and service space (Use Class E), ancillary plant, servicing and blue badge parking, landscaping and associated works. The development will provide 21 residential homes with indoor and external residents’ amenity and approximately 150 sq m of ground floor commercial space

This new development contributes to the vibrancy of the high street and to London Borough of Wandsworth’s increased housing target.
