The design has sought to integrate the new building into the street by preserving the front garden wall, which also runs across the front of the neighbouring houses to the west and adopting the same roof ridge and eaves heights as these houses. The front elevation also echoes the arrangement of windows and doors seen in the detached 19th-century villas at the eastern end of the street.
